Men's Issues

Many men struggle silently with stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, anger, substance use, or the pressure to meet expectations around masculinity, work, and family. Men’s mental health therapy provides a confidential, supportive space to address emotional challenges, develop healthier coping strategies, and build resilience without judgment. I work with men to improve emotional awareness, communication, and self-confidence while addressing issues such as burnout, trauma, intimacy concerns, and life transitions. Therapy can help men gain clarity, strengthen relationships, and create meaningful, lasting change in their mental and emotional well-being.

Depression

Many men experience depression quietly, carrying emotional pain beneath the surface while continuing to show up for work, family, and relationships with a smile. Cultural expectations around masculinity often encourage men to minimize their feelings, cope alone, or push through distress rather than ask for help. Men’s depression therapy offers a confidential space to talk openly about sadness, numbness, irritability, loss of motivation, or feeling disconnected from yourself or others. Therapy can help men understand their depression, reduce isolation, and develop healthier ways to cope—without shame or judgment.

Anxiety

Anxiety in men often shows up in ways that aren’t always recognized as anxiety—constant worry, irritability, restlessness, difficulty sleeping, muscle tension, or feeling on edge all the time. Many men experience anxiety through overthinking, perfectionism, avoidance, or staying constantly busy as a way to stay in control. Men’s anxiety therapy provides a supportive space to identify how anxiety is impacting your daily life, work, relationships, and physical health. Therapy can help men learn practical coping skills, reduce overwhelm, and regain a sense of calm and confidence without feeling weak or judged.

Codependency

Codependency in men often shows up as people-pleasing, difficulty setting boundaries, over-functioning in relationships, and putting others’ needs ahead of your own at the cost of your mental and emotional health. Many men learn early on to avoid conflict, seek validation through caregiving or fixing others, and measure their worth by how much they give—leading to chronic stress, resentment, and burnout. Therapy for codependency helps men identify unhealthy relationship patterns, develop stronger boundaries, and build a more balanced sense of self. Through therapy, men can learn to prioritize their needs, strengthen self-worth, and create healthier, more reciprocal relationships.

Substance Use Disorder

Substance use disorder in men often develops as a way to cope with stress, trauma, emotional suppression, or unmet mental health needs—and for LGBTQ+ men, substance use is frequently shaped by minority stress, stigma, discrimination, and identity-related trauma. Many men struggle in silence, using alcohol or drugs to manage anxiety, depression, shame, or social pressure while continuing to function outwardly. Therapy for substance use disorder provides a nonjudgmental, affirming space to address the underlying drivers of use, develop healthier coping strategies, and support recovery without moralizing or shame. Through an evidence-based, LGBTQ+-affirming approach, men can reduce harmful use, rebuild self-trust, and move toward sustainable recovery and improved quality of life.

PTSD

Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in men often looks different than expected, showing up as irritability, anger, emotional numbness, hypervigilance, sleep problems, or avoiding reminders of past trauma. Many men minimize their symptoms or push through distress, which can lead to strained relationships, burnout, substance use, or worsening mental health over time. PTSD therapy for men provides a safe, confidential space to process trauma, reduce symptoms, and regain a sense of control. Through evidence-based trauma therapy, men can learn to regulate their nervous system, reconnect emotionally, and move forward without being defined by their past.
